Blossom 12--month-old Blossom is a lovely longhaired Blue-Cream cat. She was screaming in agony when her owner took her to the vets. She had cat flu and both her eyes were severely ulcerated. The indifference her owner showed when she was told that Blossom had signs of neglect and was very underweight appalled the vet. Luckily for Blossom our Teresa is a part-time receptionist at this vet practice. She diplomatically stepped in and persuaded the owner to let Blossom go into Anim-Mates’ care. After excellent vet treatment Blossom is now recovering in Teresa’s home. Teresa said: “For weeks it was like going back to hand rearing. I had to tend to Blossom’s eyes every 4 hours with eye drops.” “Fortunately she didn’t lose the sight in both eyes, but they are badly scarred by the ulcers. Now Blossom is down to once-a-day eye drops. These act as artificial tears. She will have to have drops for the rest of her life.” Blossom’s coat was very matted but with patience and care it is back in good order. “She is good at being groomed and accepts her eye drops without any fuss,” says Teresa. Like all Anim-Mates cats Blossom is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Blossom
