Joshua

We get some rather unusual calls for help at Anim-Mates. One came in January 2004 from a lady asking us to rehome Joshua, a Shetland pony, who was in her London basement flat.

Our vet told us that Joshua - he stands just twenty-seven inches high - was about a year old, needed his teeth and feet attended to and, unfortunately, had a pronounced heart murmur. Joshua was then vaccinated, gelded, and had his teeth and feet filed.

His permanent home is a shelter and field near Dartford, which he happily shares with six other Shetland ponies

Because of his heart condition, this little fella will never be capable of undertaking any strenuous exercise. This has not been a problem for him and he is very settled and content with his friends.

Late in the summer 2006 we had a very scary time with Joshua when he had colic and was in an equine hospital for 5 days.  He came through that and was so very pleased to go home.

Joshua is in the Anim-Motes Care for Life scheme and will be spending the rest of his life with us - we hope he has a happy and carefree one.
