Rabbits rescued from foxes

A Kidbrooke couple who make nightly visits to feed foxes on a nearby common found a cardboard box in the middle of the foxes run.

Looking in the box they were horrified to find two young rabbits who had been abandoned.

The couple contacted Anim-Mates, the local animal rescue group, who are now caring for the two rabbits, since named Alfie and Alice.

After their ordeal the rabbits are looking for a new home. “They are about 12 weeks old and will be re-homed as a pair,” says Lisa Waters their Anim-Mates foster carer. “However, until they are neutered they will need to live in two hutches.”

If you have two hutches and would like offer a home to Alfie and Alice, call Lisa on 01322 350352.

Anim-Mates is an animal rescue group based in north-west Kent and south-east London.

All the animals are cared for in the homes of fosterers who treat them as their own pets until they are re-homed.

Anim-Mates is run entirely by volunteers whose sole aim is to rescue, care for, and re-home unwanted animals.

Animals rescued are often in a sad and sorry condition and, quite often, can be very ill. Anim-Mates takes on the responsibility of trying to restore all animals to optimum health, before re-homing them. All animals are neutered, and cats and dogs are microchipped prior to re-homing. All new homes are vetted.

All the animals in the care of Anim-Mates can be found on www.anim-mates.org
