Polo
7-year-old Polo was due to be put to sleep as his owner could no longer manage to control Polo's diabetes and failing eyesight.
According to his vet, once Polo's diabetes is under control he will be able to have a cataract operation to recover his sight.
During his first week with his fosterers Polo integrated well with their own dogs, and the cats
checked him out. Polo sniffs his way into the garden and is showing what a smart, capable lad he is.
He is on a special diabetic diet. His eating habits are going to be hard to keep in check but we are hoping the competition with the other dogs will teach him to get on and eat or the others will quickly polish off any left owners.
Polo's meals are split evenly between two, with no titbits in between. This is helping as he is hungry at meal times and is improving daily eating. After both meals he has his insulin injections 12 hours apart.
Polo
is neutered, microchipped and vaccinated.
Polo
is in the Anim-Mates Care-for-Life scheme
